A worke concerning the trewnesse of the Christian religion, written in French: By Philip of Mornay Lord of Plessie Marlie (1549 - 1623) Philip was a French Protestant writer and member of the anti-monarchist. This work featured was begun to be translated into English by Sir Philip Sidney Knight, and at his request finished by Arthur Golding.


Trewnesse of the Christian religion was one of his landmark works in which Philip takes a firm stance against atheism. Philip Mornay was also instrumental in the drafting of the Edict of Nantes (1598) which established political rights and some religious freedom for the Huguenots.
