1525 - 1836 Tyndale NT

This volume is a landmark of William Tyndale’s historic 1526 New Testament. It was meticulously produced by the famous London publisher Samuel Bagster. As the first person to translate and print the New Testament directly from the original Greek into English, Tyndale revolutionized access to scripture. His dangerous work ultimately led to his execution at the stake in 1536. Exactly three centuries later, Bagster issued this 1836 edition to revive Tyndale's legacy for the Victorian public. It paired a verbatim reprint of the rare 1526 Worms text with an extensive introductory memoir by the noted book collector George Offor. This specific printing played a crucial role in 19th-century scholarship.
